Peak 2000
There is already huge international focus on New Zealand for the Year
2000 celebrations, not only as the first county to see the sun rise
but also because of its deserved clean and green reputation. And the
best example of that fresh air and natural beauty can be experienced
in Hawke’s Bay/Te Mata Peak, in Hawke’s Bay, rising 400 metres above
sea level, will provide the first most spectacular view of the new
sunrise on 1st January 2000.
Tickets to the celebrations
at Te Mata Peak are limited to just 1000, with approximately two-thirds
available for international visitors. The remainder will be sold in
New Zealand. The celebrations beginning at 5.00pm on Friday 31 December
1999, will include spectacular entertainment, observe the final sunset,
midnight and the first sunrise, and culminate with a Champagne Breakfast,
before guests depart at 9.00am, Saturday 1st January 2000. Tickets
are NZ$700 each. A deposit of 20% (NZ$140) will reserve a ticket.
The balance must be paid by 31 December 1998 and will be held in trust.
This is an all-inclusive price, covering quality food, drinks, entertainment
and transport from Havelock North village to Te Mata Peak.
First
Night Hastings
First Night Hastings is a Millennium community event offering a welcoming,
alcohol free and safe environment for people of all ages to enjoy
music and the arts for 20 nights culminating in a New Millennium Eve
city-wide celebration.
Pre-sale buttons are only
$10 each and children under five get in free. Your button admits you
into a dozen First Night venues on 31st December and heaps of activities
and entertainment at Waikoko Garden of Lights for 19 nights from 11
December. It's just a gold coin entry to Garden of Lights without
a button. First Night Hastings opens on Saturday 11 December with
Carols by Candlelight and our spectacular display of 250,000 lights
at the Waikoko Garden of Lights, Hawke's Bay Showgrounds. Last year
we attracted 15,000 people who gave our festival the thumbs up. Join
in the most memorable millennium celebrations ever and start 2000

The seaside location of
East Pier is in Napier, on the much publicised East Coast of New Zealand
- First to feel the Year 2000 Sunrise. This year sees a live band
stage with multiple acts positioned beside the sea to create an ocean
backdrop for all partygoers to enjoy - an atmosphere hard to beat.
A musical feast ranging from some of NZ’s top live bands upon their
own stage to contemporary DJ's performing their own blends of dance
music in the huge dance marquee. Ticket prices have been set at $75
& are limited so dont miss out. Food & drinks will be available at
